Every English parish must have a parish meeting. The Sedlescombe Parish Meeting consists of the local government electors registered for the parish of Sedlescombe. The Chair of the Parish Council, if present, must preside at the meeting. In his or her absence, the Vice-Chair of the Parish Council must preside.

The Parish Meeting must assemble annually between 1 March and 1 June. In addition, the Parish Meeting may be convened by the Parish Council, the Chair of the Parish Council or any two parish councillors at other times. Proceedings must not begin before six o'clock in the evening.

Decisions are taken in the first instance by a majority of those present and voting. Unlike a parish council, a parish meeting is not required to vote in any particular way. In the majority of cases, a resolution passed at a parish meeting is not legally binding and the parish council may disregard it.
